This email is to express my concerns about the violations of human rights which are currently going on in Laos.
It has been brought to the attention of the world that innocent people are being persecuted for not denouncing their Christian faith. These innocent people are being arrested and persecuted for an act that we in the free world take for granted!
Some people have been arrested just for speaking freely and openly about their faith and in other parts of the country. Reports suggest that many Lao Christians have been ordered to close their churches and to stop their worship practices.
I would like to see the US Government provide greater assistance to Laos, to take genuine steps to reform in accordance with the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which Laos is a signatory to.
