A Royal Laotian Army Commando's Escape from Laos

A true story of Khambang Sibounheuang, a Laotian soldier who was drafted into the Royal Laotian Army in 1960 to help defend his country against the Communist invasion of Laos.

Khambang rose to the rank of Captain and commanded an Infantry Special Group Commando Company during the last fierce battles of the war. He was captured by the Communists and while awaiting transfer to a 'Re-education camp', escaped. With the withdrawal of the US military and allied forces from the region, the once peaceful country of Laos became over-run with aggressive Vietnamese Communist forces. Khambang courageously escaped death and evacuated his family to Thailand where they were able to eventually make their way to the United States. Khambang continues his military service as a volunteer with the Tennessee State Guard with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
