It is wonderful to see that so many Americans are rallying to the defense of Schapelle Corby since the airing of "Ganja Queen" on HBO! Let's all hope that by next year on the 4th of July, we can celebrate Ms. Corby's freedom as well as our Nation's.
It is important that we show restraint in our communications with Indonesian officials! We need to be mindful that some things we say might backfire on Schapelle. Schapelle needs the love and support of all of us, and it could work against her if we anger Indonesian officials. Also, please be aware that much of the anti-Schapelle backlash in Australia (which may be over-stated anyway) has been whipped up by what we here would call the "Tabloid Press," or "yellow journalism," elements over there. Distortions and outright misinformation have become all too common regarding Schapelle in the sensational press. These people are looking for a story, true or not - at Schapelle's' expense.
When it comes to communicating with Indonesian officials, showing tact is potentially a matter of life and death for Schapelle, who as you may know is in hospital now and may be gravely ill. The web site set up by her family has guidelines for communicating with Indonesian authorities. I would urge you to check there first. By all means, yes, we should write, call, whatever we can do to urge Schapelle's release. But Indonesia is very sensitive, and we must avoid saying things that could be inflammatory and backfire on Schapelle, such as demanding her release, or belittling their judicial system. What we need if we are to help bring Schapelle home safely is allies!
Above all, please let Schapelle know that she will not be forgotten and that you care about her! Send her your love and support and anything else you can do to help her make it through this terrible ordeal. If you are inclined that way, then pray for her. We all want so badly to see her once again back home, safe, healthy, and re-united with her friends and loved ones.
Thank you all!

'Ganga Queen generates overwhelming support in USA and Canada'
|
Recently the TV Documentary 'Ganga Queen' screened in the United States and Canada on HBO.
Contrary to the groundswell of negative and abusive mail the program created from audiences in Australia, it has resulted in an astounding amount of positive, overwhelming support in the United States and Canada for the Australian, Schapelle Corby, detained on a twenty year sentence in Bali.
