If he serves the full term of his sentence, he will be a very old man by the time he is released, supposing he survives.

Write a letter of support - If you would like to encourage Scott throughout his ordeal.

Sign the petition - created by his brother Lee Hurford and friends who are trying to bring attention to the incredibly long sentences that foreign nationals receive in Thailand. They hope to encourage the British Government to review the terms of the existing treaty between Thailand and the United Kingdom.

Visit him at the prison- when next you are in Bangkok why not visit Scott? It's not all that frightening or unsafe to visit someone in a Thai prison. Your encouragement and compassion might even show him that there is hope and that it is worthwhile for him to take every opportunity he can to make his life account for something … to be an example for others who might be contemplating a similar journey.

Send a care package or financial support - It is extremely difficult for prisoners, particularly, foreigners, to survive these conditions in the medium to long term without financial support. Those who are very lucky and have access to money usually maintain a modest prison account to purchase basic essentials. Read more about this at the above link [care packages and financial support].
