On December 28th 2003 efi landed in Bangkok airport after spending a weekend with
his wife in HongKong. At the transit section of Bangkok airport he conducted a
meeting with representative of Thai human personnel company that has invited him earlier.
Efi was not aware that it was a trap. He was arrested. His charge was Fraud.
The alleged crime is under section 381 of Thai criminal Codex.
Two weeks later he was transferred to Klong Prem prison.
He is being held in prison as a pawn in a "money game". It is clear that if he will pay the Thai
companies money he will be released and will be allowed to return back to his wife and children.
It is clear that if he will not he will die in prison as his physical state is bad due to his illness.
He was deprived until now from getting into a hospital.
Efi Elad is an ex-Israeli General from the Israeli paratroopers and a father of 3 children.
The youngest is 11 [Rotem]. He lives in Israel, Jerusalem and specialized in the bringing of Thai and Chinese workers to Israel.
3 years Ago he was a candidate for mayor ship in a town next to Jerusalem.
His wife Rachel is devastated and desperate.
The story has hit the big newspapers in Israel as well as the Radio and TV. Everyone is worried for him . Every government official and minister is aware with is story. No much help though.
His court case is due to 3rd of may 2004.
In two weeks time Efi is due to pass an operation to remove his kidney. His left kidney failed. If he will pass the operation we are not sure he will survive it.
The Family has conducted negotiations with the Thai plaintiffs. We got into some kind of a deal under which if Efi will pay 200,000 $ he will be released from jail. We don’t have the money. We managed to collect until now 110,000 USD.
The deal is simple.... the money will be deposited in the Israeli consulate special bank account and will be delivered to the Thai plaintiff upon departure of Efi from Thailand.
Our main concern is collecting 90,000 USD so as to enable the plea bargain to work.
We need help raise that money...
