SENTENCE:
|
I currently serving a 32 year sentence and 11 months in the notorious Bangkok Hilton for drug offences, which is 150 grams of heroin. I originally was sentenced to 37 years and 6 months but got a reduction after the 2006 general amnesty.
I have been here for over six years. I was arrested that the airport in Bangkok. I am not innocent in the crime I have been implicated with , and I'm not proud of my actions either. I am fully aware of the consequences of my crime and I deeply regret everything that I have done to both myself, to my family, friends, my country; and I profoundly apologize for the inconvenience that my actions have caused the Thai Authorities. I know that the punishment given to me is justified, but the matter of the length of sentence is difficult for me to accept. In Thailand the sentences are so very long and hard to endure and especially when there is no one to help from the outside.
Many people have probably read books about this prison that were written by prisoners, or their family members. It really is a terrible place that even I cannot imagine being real and I am trapped here. TB and Aids are the main causes of death here but the conditions are such that even a mild illness can quickly turn fatal.
I have seen many sad things during my years in this prison and much of it has changed me. I am no longer too proud to beg for help and forgiveness now because I know that if I do not become a new man, that I will be trapped in here till the day I die. Even if I never leave here, I promise you that I will continue to better myself so that when my time comes, I will at least leave this world with some dignity.
I wish that I could have my life again and so many things I would want to be different. Thank you for taking the time to listen. I pray that someone will write to me and help me endure the hardships ahead of me.
